Why Brown Meat in a Slow Cooker?

Slow-Cooking Meat

Before adding pieces of meat to a slow cooker, try browning them. This will add rich color and flavor to the meat and the rest of the dish. And while many components of slow cooker dishes can be prepped ahead of time, don't be tempted to do so with the meat — this is an unsafe practice. Brown the meat just before adding it to the cooker.
