All About Natural-Casing Hot Dogs

Here's the low-down on natural-casing hot dogs, what exactly they are, and what makes them so delicious.

All About Natural-Casing Hot Dogs

Hot dogs are formed by pressing the meat mixture into casings, either artificial or natural. After cooking, manufacturers remove artificial casings, while natural casings are intentionally left on. This creates a little snap or pop when you bite into it, offering more texture than the softer, uniform consistency of other hot dogs.

Although they are harder to find, natural-casing hot dogs also tend to have more flavor and fewer fillers than the skinless variety. They're definitely worth seeking out at your grocery store or deli.
