How to Safely Use a Mandoline

A mandoline is a tool that quickly and uniformly slices or juliennes. It can handle most every kind of produce, from cabbage and carrots, to tomatoes and apples. Use a mandoline to slice potatoes that will cook consistently by pushing the potato over the blade, and use the guard to protect your fingers. The blade can be adjusted to produce slices of varying thicknesses.
