Simple Way to Flavor Rice

This Test Kitchen-approved tip is a simple way to add flavor to rice. Just a quick addition to the pot and you'll up the ante of plain cooked rice.

To enhance white or brown rice, toss a few stems or leaves of a fresh herb, such as basil, rosemary, or thyme, in with the rice and water before cooking. Then cook according to package directions. The flavor of the herbs subtly permeates the rice.
