How To Store Salmon For Maximum Freshness

If you love fresh, never-frozen salmon but can't use it the same day you buy it, this tip will show you how to keep your fillets straight-from-the-market fresh for up to two days.

How To Store Salmon For Maximum Freshness

Ideally, you should buy fresh salmon the day you intend to use it. If that’s not an option, storing takes on new importance, since never-frozen fish doesn't keep for very long.

Store it as the fish market does — on ice, but don’t let the flesh touch the cubes. Fill a dish with ice, then form a barrier over the top with plastic wrap. Place fish on top, cover with more plastic wrap, and chill in the coldest part of the fridge up to two days.
