Prepping/Seasoning Cast-Iron

To season cast iron, rub the inside of a clean skillet with a coat of vegetable oil. Then place in a 350° oven for one hour. Cast iron should be seasoned when first purchased, and then after each time the pan has been scrubbed clean.

Cleaning Cast-Iron

Cooking in a cast iron skillet is great, but the cleanup afterward can be long and tedious. So to easily remove burnt-on food, add one or two drops of dish soap and enough water to cover the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes; cool. After cooling, wash the pan—it’ll be much easier to clean.
