Upside-Down Pizza with Italian sausage & mushrooms
This time- and family-friendly pizza casserole, a.k.a. Upside-Down Pizza, is simply ooey-gooey satisfaction. Similar to a pot pie, this dish evokes two of the most comforting foods on the planet — it might just become a new favorite.
Ingredients
Sauce Tip
Use a thick pizza sauce or drain a looser pizza sauce for best results.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°. Coat a 7×11-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
Brown sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat with a spoon until no longer pink and cooked through. Transfer sausage to a colander to drain, discarding all but 1 Tbsp. drippings from skillet.
Sauté mushrooms in drippings until softened, 3–5 minutes. Stir in sausage, pizza sauce, and olives until heated through, 1–2 minutes; transfer to prepared baking dish.
Top sausage mixture with mozzarella and provolone; unroll crescent dough sheet (if using crescent roll dough, carefully unroll sheet without separating triangles); arrange over cheese. Top crust with Parmesan.
Bake casserole until Parmesan and crust are browned, 15–18 minutes; let cool 5–10 minutes before serving.
