Italian Queso Dip

If you’ve ever come up short on ideas for how to use Italian sausage, look no further. Italian sausage is essentially coarsely ground pork flavored with garlic and fennel seeds. It comes either hot (with red pepper flakes) or sweet (without). And it isn’t just for pizza anymore.

Italian sausage can play a starring role in plenty of dishes, like the Italian Queso Dip. American and cream cheeses, plus sour cream, keep the dip creamy, while Fontina adds flavor. Then tomatoes and pickly bits come together with the star of the show to create a party-worthy dip. Cheesy and comforting, this addictive dip will have you coming back bite after bite.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°.

Brown sausage in oil in a sauté pan over medium-high heat, 57 minutes; transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate. Reduce heat to medium-low.

Combine sausage, cream cheese mixture, American cheese, fontina, tomatoes, sour cream, roasted peppers, and pepperoncini. Transfer dip to a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate, cover with foil, and bake 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake dip until bubbly around edges, 10 minutes more. Serve dip with crostini.
