Stove-Top Barbecue Beans

Side Dishes

Stove-Top Barbecue Beans

With smoky bacon flavor, sweet brown sugar, and just a hint of spice, these beans are the perfect dish to serve alongside anything coming off the grill. The best part is they’re easy to make. Made with three types of beans for color and texture, and cooked right on top of the stove, they’re just as good hot or cold.

Instructions

Cook bacon in a large pot until crisp. Transfer bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate; discard all but 2 Tbsp. drippings. Cook onions, chiles, and garlic in drippings over medium heat until softened, 5 minutes.

Add beans, ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, and Tabasco. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until thick, about 25 minutes. Season beans with salt and black pepper; stir in bacon.
