Boil water in a large sauté pan. Add asparagus and blanch for 2 minutes. Transfer to a plate; pour off water.

Melt butter in same sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add asparagus and sauté 12 minutes, tossing to coat. Squeeze lemon over asparagus; season with salt and pepper.
