Riesling Fruit Salad

Riesling Fruit Salad

Fruit salad is a brunch staple, and the fruit in this one, marinated in a sweet and spicy syrup made from the famous German wine Riesling, is impressive. Reduce the wine with cinnamon, citrus zests, and sugar to intensify its flavor.

Kumquats look like grape-sized oranges with a sweet rind and tart flesh that are eaten whole. Can’t find them? Substitute orange segments

Instructions

Combine Riesling, sugar, cinnamon, and zests in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil and reduce to ¼ cup liquid when strained, 25 minutes; discard solids.

Toss plums, pears, grapes, and kumquats with Riesling syrup. Cover salad and refrigerate no longer than 2 hours before serving.
