You can also leave the pretzels whole and top with bacon and cheese, then bake until cheese melts.

Instructions

Prepare pretzels according to package directions for thawing and cooking in oven. Carefully slice pretzels in half horizontally.

Spread 1 tsp. Dijon on the cut side of each pretzel half. Place two pieces bacon onto 6 pretzel halves, and top each with 1 oz. Gouda and remaining pretzel halves, Dijon side down.

Transfer sandwiches to a baking sheet; bake until cheese melts, about 5 minutes. Remove the sandwiches from oven and place a sandwich on top of each bowl of "German" Onion Soup.
