Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil; blanch beans 45 minutes, then transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking. When beans are cool, drain and set aside.

Sauté tomatoes and garlic in oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, 12 minutes (remove from heat if garlic begins to burn). Add beans to heat through, then season with salt and pepper flakes.
