Whether you’re hosting a 4th of July shindig or heading to one, firecracker beans are the side dish to bring. Spicy and smoky, these are sure to make some noise at your party — and that’s something to celebrate!
Test Kitchen Tip
These beans already have some kick, but if you want them even spicier, add more Tabasco.
Preheat oven to 350°. Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
Cook bacon in a skillet until crisp; transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate. Discard all but 1 Tbsp. drippings.
Add onions and garlic to skillet; sweat over medium heat until onions soften, 5 minutes.
Deglaze skillet with bourbon; cook until nearly evaporated.
Stir in black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, Tabasco, and bacon; season with salt. Transfer beans to prepared dish and bake until bubbly, about 30 minutes.
