Skip commercial fruit-flavored sodas and make your own with this Strawberry-Rhubarb Syrup. Who knew it could be this easy?
Soda: Combine equal parts syrup and club soda.
Italian soda: Combine equal parts syrup and club soda, then add a splash of heavy cream or half-and-half.
Float: Scoop vanilla ice cream into a tall glass. Top with equal parts syrup and club soda.
Combine strawberries, rhubarb, sugar, and water in a pot; heat over medium until fruit is soft, stirring occasionally, about 25 minutes. Let syrup come to room temperature, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl (do not press). Discard solids.
Stir in lemon juice. Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
