Blueberry-Thyme Tequila Smash

Drinks

Blueberry-Thyme Tequila Smash

A family of cocktails, smashes are flexible — simply choose your favorite spirit, sweetener, citrus, fresh fruit, and herb, then smash, muddle, or crush. They’re the quintessential summer sipper. Reposado tequilas are aged in oak from two months to one year, yielding a more complex, yet mellower flavor than silver or blanco tequilas.

Ingredients

Instructions

Heat blueberries, water, sugar, and 2 sprigs thyme in a saucepan to a boil over high. Reduce heat to medium-low, simmer until sugar dissolves and berries burst, crushing any remaining whole berries with a potato masher, 10 minutes. Let blueberry-thyme syrup cool to room temperature; discard sprigs, transfer to a pitcher, and chill until ready to serve.

Stir tequila and lemon juice into blueberry-thyme syrup; divide among four glasses filled with crushed ice and garnish with thyme sprigs, reserved blueberries, and lemon slices.
