These Toffee Squares, with their shortbread crust and nutty chocolate topping, are a must-have to keep on-hand. They’re perfect for family treats as well as the repeat-requested gifting.
Are they candy? Are they cookies? We just know they‘re easy and fun to make, and ultimately, delicious.
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment.
Cream butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla in a bowl. Stir in flour and salt until combined; transfer to prepared pan.
Bake crust until golden brown, 20 minutes. (Crust will be soft.) Immediately place chocolate squares on top of crust; let stand until chocolate softens, then spread over surface.
Sprinkle almonds and toffee bits over top of chocolate; cut into squares while still warm.
Store Toffee Squares in an airtight container at room temperature. Do not refrigerate.
