Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° with rack in center position. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl; set aside.

Cream granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, shortening, eggs, and vanilla with a hand mixer on low speed. Increase speed to high and beat until mixture is fluffy and light in color.

Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture until no flour is visible. Add chocolate chips; stir to incorporate.

Form cookies using a 2 Tbsp. cookie scoop (#40). Drop dough onto prepared baking sheets 2 inches apart.

Bake cookies until lightly brown around the edges, 12–14 minutes. Let cookies cool on baking sheet 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Add a 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips with the semisweet chips for the perfect balance of bitter and sweet.
