Diavolo Sauce

Diavolo sauce ("devil" sauce in Italian) is a rich and spicy tomato sauce that pairs perfectly with pasta, seafood, or veggie dishes like our healthy zucchini cakes. Red pepper flakes are what make diavolo sauce spicy, so adjust the amount to your personal taste.

Make the sauce before starting the zucchini cakes for efficiency.


Sauté onion and bell pepper in oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat for 3 minutes. Add tomato paste and garlic; cook for 1 minute.

Stir in wine, tomatoes, vinegar, and pepper flakes. Simmer sauce for 5 minutes; season with salt. Keep sauce warm until ready to serve.
