How to Evenly Cook Asparagus
Overcooked asparagus is a sad, mushy occasion! Here's a simple trick to ensure your steamed asparagus turns out perfectly every time.
To cook asparagus evenly, place the trimmed spears in a large, wide skillet with enough water to cover (be sure the tips are all pointing in the same direction). Put the pan on the burner so the stems (thick ends) are over the heat and the tips (tender ends) are well off the heat.
