Trail Mix Clusters

Candy bars are sugar-filled, go-to snacks with high calorie counts that don’t fill you up. Retool their fillings and toppings, and they’re nearly guilt-free. Choose the mixed nuts and dark chocolate in the Trail Mix Clusters over a nougat-filled candy bar and the fats are mostly healthful monounsaturated ones. (Not to mention, dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and its deep flavor really satisfies.) Use any variety of nuts or dried fruits in these clusters. But keep in mind, fat and calorie contents vary.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper or parchment paper.

Toast almonds, cashews, pepitas, and pistachios on a baking sheet in oven until golden and fragrant, 1012 minutes. Transfer the nuts to a large bowl.

Add cranberries and cherries.

Melt chocolate in a large bowl in the microwave in 1-minute increments, stirring after each minute. Stir in nut and fruit mixture to coat with chocolate.

Scoop mixture with a tablespoon measure onto prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle salt onto clusters and chill until set, about 15 minutes. Store the clusters in an airtight container up to 1 week.
